To obtain a component and a system for sampling, transporting and preserving samples in which the samples to be analyzed can be sampled and transported easily while protecting against infection due to damage of container.
The component contains first and second layers of aborptive matrix material 1, 2 disposed on an inert support material 3 contiguously thereto while touching each other such that a liquid can migrate from first layer to second layer when the first layer is filled with liquid. After a sample is applied and dried, the first layer can be separated perfectly from the second layer. The system comprises the component and a closable envelope for transporting the component. The component is coated with a liquid sample and the first layer is separated from the second layer for the purpose of analysis before being eluted.
