To easily obtain aluminum nitride free from the occurrence of peeling on the surface by forming a disperse layer of the aluminum nitride grown into a fibrous or dendritic state in at least either of the surface and the inner part of an aluminum alloy.
It is preferable to incorporate ≥0.05 wt.% of a metal having strong affinity for oxygen higher than that of aluminum into an aluminum alloy, to regulate the thickness of a disperse layer of aluminum nitride grown into a fibers or dendritic state to 0.1 to 3 μm and to regulate the depth of the disperse layer of the aluminum nitride within 10 μm from the surface to the inside of the aluminum alloy. It is preferable that an aluminum alloy containing ≥0.05 wt.% of a metal having strong affinity for oxygen higher than that of aluminum is heated to ≥400°C and heated and held under a gaseous nitrogen atmosphere of ≤-10°C dew point. The disperse layer 2 of the aluminum nitride is formed from the surface 4 to the inside of a base material 1 of the aluminum alloy in which the dendritic bodies 3 of the aluminum nitride are grown in the vertical direction and is excellent in heat resistance, wear resistance or the like.
