Title:
COMPOSITE BLANK MATERIAL FOR SPECTACLE FRAME
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS61109019
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a composite blank material which permits brazing in the atm., has high brazing strength and prevents the exfoliation of an outside material by using Ti or Ti alloy as a core material, cladding an intermediate layer consisting of a specific alloy on the outside thereof and cladding further a corrosion-resistant material to the outside thereof.

CONSTITUTION: The Ti or Ti alloy is used as the core material 1 and the Ag alloy contg. 2.5W50wt% Cu and 0.01W10wt% Si is clad as the intermediate layer to the outside thereof. The corrosion-resistant material 2 having good corrosion resistance and excellent brazing characteristic, for example, any of an Ni-Cr alloy, Ni-Cu alloy, Au alloy, etc. is clad to the outside thereof. The thermal strain is relieved by the Ag in the alloy when such Ag alloy is used as the intermediate layer 7. The Cu component added thereto diffuses and binds preferentially with the Ti or sheath material 2 and particularly the Cu-Ti is not brittle and can prevent the exfoliation after brazing. The abnormal growth of the Cu-Ti layer and the consequent exfoliation are prevented by the Si added to the intermediate layer when the brazing temp. is increased too much. the composite blank material for lightweight spectacle frames having good brazing workability and excellent durability and functionality is thus obtd.
