To provide a composite core having strength capable of being reutilized and washed and capable of being adapted to various web materials having different core winding characteristics in the production of a web.
The composite core 10 is prepared in order to wind a web material 16. A hollow cylindrical pipe 12 is covered with a water-resistant hard sleeve 14 in a heat fit mode and provides a winding surface. The sleeve 14 is selected and finished in order to control the winding characteristics of the pipe 12. The sleeve 14 has an inner diameter smaller than the diameter of the outer surface of the pipe 12 but larger than the inner diameter of the pipe 12. The pipe 12 comprises a fiber, paper, a thermoplastic material, fiber glass or the like, and the sleeve 14 comprises an extruded thermoplastic material.
