Title:
COMPOSITE FORGED WHITE CAST IRON ROLL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS62148004
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To eliminate the deterioration of fire crack resistance and to improve the shaft strength and wear resistance of a roll by forging a composite steel ingot consisting of the core material for which a steel contg. C at a low ratio and having high toughness is used and the outside layer material for which a white cast iron is used.

CONSTITUTION: The steel contg. 0.3W1.0% C, ≤1% Si, Ni, Mo, and 5% Cr and having the high toughness is used for the core material and the white cast iron contg. 1.5W3.5% C, ≤1% Si, Mn, Ni, 1W5% Cr, ≤3% Mo, and 1% V and having wear resistance and forgeability is used for the outside layer material. The core material having the above-mentioned compsn. is used as a shaft material 2 and the outside layer material 1 is built up thereon by an electroslag method, etc. The built-up composite steel ingot is forged to form the roll. this composite roll consists of the shaft having the toughness and the outside layer having the excellent wear resistance and is, therefore, suitable for hot rolling, etc.
