To obtain a composite hardened material excellent in processability and productivity and having high bending strength and useful for building materials, etc., by mixing a fibrous material into an amorphous substance composed of a system of oxides.
This composite hardened material is obtained by mixing 2-75 wt.% fibrous material, e.g. organic fibrous material comprising polysaccharide and further, 0.1-1.2 wt.% halogen such as chlorine, bromine or fluorine into an amorphous substance comprising a system of two or more kinds of oxides selected from Al2O3, SiO2, CaO, Na2O, MgO, P2O5, SO3, K2O, TiO2, MnO, Fe2O3 and ZnO, etc., preferably Al2O3-SiO2-CaO system composed of 5-51 wt.% Al2O3, 8-53 wt.% SiO2 and 10-63 wt.% CaO, forming the resultant composite material and carrying out hardening treatment of the formed material.
