PURPOSE: To maintain the stable braking ability of the sliding member in the caption by piling and forming in a laminate, fan-shaped circular carbon fiber sheets impregnated with heat hardening resin on the upper and lower surfaces of a circular disk and next carbonizing it, in the case of braking materials, etc., for aircrafts.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality e.g. 24 of carbon fiber sheets impregnated with mixed solution of heat hardening furan resin and sulfuric acid of 0.5 weight % are formed in a doughnut-like shape and one each part of them is radially cut, and, each of them is shifted by central angle 15° and its end opposite to its upward overlapped side is inserted below the adjacent lower layer to form a laminate so as to obtain a laminate which is a completely doughnut-shaped circular disk 2. Next, it is molded under pressure by a die preheated to about 150°C under the pressure of about 10 kg/cm2 and after the resin is completely hardened at 180°C, it is heated until about 1000°C in the atmosphere of argon to be carbonized. Then, re-impregnation of tar pitch and re-carbonization are repeated five time for increasing density and strength, and lastly it is burned at about 2400°C. Thus, stable brake performance can be maintained.
