To suppress pseudosignal output and fluctuation in the pseudosignal output of a composite magnetic head comprising an oxide magnetic material and a magnetic metal thin film containing nitrogen, and to improve the yield in the production process for the head.
The main magnetic pat of this composite magnetic head consists of an oxide magnetic material and at least a part of the main magnetic path consists of a magnetic metal thin film 14 containing nitrogen. In this magnetic head, an oxide nonmagnetic film 13 having gradient of oxygen density is formed on the interface between the oxide magnetic material and the magnetic metal thin film 14. The oxygen density in the oxide nonmagnetic film 13 having gradient of oxygen density is high in the oxide magnetic material side, while the oxygen density is low in the magnetic metal film 14 side.
