Title:
POLYSACCHARIDE/CLAY COMPOSITE MATERIAL AND ITS PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2636187
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a polysaccharide/clay composite material as nonpollutant for the environment and desirably used for, e.g. packaging materials by mixing an aqueous solution of a polysaccharide (derivative) such as starch with a clay sol, etc., drawing the obtained composite sol into fibers, and drying the fibers.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution cd at least one starch (derivative) selected from among starch, sodium alginate and carboxymethylcellulose is mixed with a clay sol (e.g. montmorillonite sol) and optionally an aqueous dispersion of natural fibers (e.g. pulp). The obtained composite sol is drawn into fibers, which are optionally pressurized and then dried to obtain a polysaccharide/clay composite material. It is possible that at least either a colorant or a perfume is added to the composite sol. The obtained polysaccharide/clay composite material is entirely made of materials friendly to the global environment and therefore easily converted into natural soil even when discarded.
