Abstract:
To produce a composite material of a metal alloy whose strength and hardness can be improved while its specific gravity is reduced compared to that of an aluminum alloy.
This composite body of a metal alloy has a spongy ceramic porous body 1. Continuous pores 2 in the ceramic porous body 1 are infiltrated with an aluminum alloy or a magnesium alloy 3. Furthermore, the continuous pores 2 in the ceramic porous body 1 are partially filled with grains composed of porous glass or the grains of volcanic vitreous deposits having one fine hollow, and the remaining part of the continuous pores 2 partially filled with the grains may be infiltrated with the aluminum alloy or magnesium alloy 3.
