PURPOSE: To reduce the manufacturing cost of a composite material by a method wherein the lining materials and stone materials obtained by kneading or kneading and shaping a composition are rendered into a unitary form and are thereafter subjected to moist curing for hardening.
CONSTITUTION: Blast furnace granulated slag and a water-soluble polymer are mixed together and, as required, various admixtures are added thereto to make up a powdery mixture. To this mixture are added a curing stimulating agent and a predetermined amount of water or a predetermined amount of an aqueous solution of the curing stimulating agent. The lining materials obtained by an extrusion molding machine and a press molding machine and/or the lining materials and stones left unshaped by the molding machines are laid upon another and are passed or pressed lightly between two roll presses to be rendered into a unitary form. In this case, the surfaces of the stones are previously wetted or roughened by grinding or blasting. By this method, a composite material and the stones are rendered into a unitary form without using other adhesive agent and are excellent in adhesive strength and flexural strength.
