PURPOSE: To obtain the composite material capable of sustaining the diffusion of aroma over a long period of time by providing a decorative material on the surface of a base material and forming a film containing aromatic and scaly extender pigment on the surface of the decorative material.
CONSTITUTION: A decorative material 2 is integrally laminated on the surface of a base material 1 and a film 3 is formed on the surface of the decorative material 2 to obtain this composite material 4. As the base material 1, for example, wood, a stone material or a plastic plate can be used and, as the decorative material 2, for example, a hinoki straight grain material or a spruce material can be used. The film 3 is formed by coating the surface of the base material with paint containing aromatic and scaly extender prigment such as mica, kaolin or flaky glass. By adding the scaly extender pigment, the release period of the aroma of the aromatic in the film 3 can be extended.
