PURPOSE:To provide a composite material excellent in heat resistance, mechanical properties, electrical insulation and dielectric properties, also good in compatibility, comprising a polyetherimide, polycarbonate, styrene-based polymer, silane coupling agent, and filler. CONSTITUTION:The objective composite material comprising (A) a polyetherimide of formula I (R1 is of formula II, formula III, etc.; R2 is of formula III, formula IV, etc.), (B) a polycarbonate of formula V (R3 is the same as R1), (C) a styrene-based polymer (pref. epoxy-modified styrene-methyl methacrylate copolymer), (D) a silane coupling agent (pref. gamma- glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane), and (E) a filler (pref. glass fiber). The preferable amounts of these components are as follows: A=5-95 pts.wt.; B=5-95 pts.wt.; C=1-20 pts.wt.; D=0.01-5 pts.wt.; E=10-60 pts.wt. It is preferable that this composite material be produced by kneading the above components in an inert gas atmosphere such as N2 gap.
