PURPOSE: To facilitate plastic deformation and to eliminate pinholes by depositing sintered non-metallic particles in a bridged state over the interstices on an inorg. support having the interstices, thereby forming a composite consisting of a porous inorg. film.
CONSTITUTION: A suspension of the sinterable inorg. non-metallic particles is prepd. The suspension is impregnated with an inorg. support having the interstices to deposit the inorg. non-metallic particles in the interstices of the support. The inorg. support is dried and heated to sinter the inorg. non-metallic particles into the parts of the support and to form the bridged film, by which the composite membrane is formed. The support is adequately a woven metallic mesh or the like consisting of fibers. The non-metallic particles forming the film adequately have an average diameter of ≤20% of the average diameter of the fibers described above. The suspension of the sinterable non-metallic particles is adequately prepd. from the soln. of an org. polymer as its medium.
