To provide a composite phase difference plate capable of reducing its thickness while keeping optical performance equivalent to that of a conventional product, and to provide a composite optical member and a liquid crystal display device using the composite phase difference plate.
In the composite phase difference plate, a structure in which a phase difference layer and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer are laminated in this order, is arranged on one side of a transparent resin film. The phase difference layer is formed substantially only of an organic modified clay complex, wherein a clay mineral belonging to a smectite group is modified with one or more kinds of dialkyl dimethylammonium ion having 14-18C dialkyl moieties. The composite optical member and the liquid crystal display device using the composite phase difference plate are also provided.
