Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a composite propellant, containing a high-energy binder, capable of maintaining physical properties such as strength in a high-temperature region and improving physical properties such as elongation versus stress in a low-temperature region by using a specific block copolymer as a principal component of the binder.
CONSTITUTION: This composite propellant consists essentially of an oxidizing agent and a binder. A block copolymer having units bound as represented by the formula, H(B)q(A)nOR1O(A)m(B)rH [unit A is OR2; unit B is CH2CH(CH2N3)O; R1 is CH2H2, CH2CH2CH2CH2, etc.; R2 is CH2CH2CH2CH2, CH2CH2, etc.; [(m)+(n)] is 2-20; (m)≥1; (n)≥1; [(q)+(r)] is 10-35; (q)≥5; (r)≥5] is used as a principal component of the binder. This block copolymer is obtained by reacting a dihydric alcohol (HOR1OH) as a polymerization initiator with a compound capable of forming the unit A and then reacting the resultant product with a compound capable of forming the unit B.
