PURPOSE: To obtain a resin composition excellent in impact resistance and mechanical properties, by mixing a thermoplastic resin with a carbon fiber and a polytetrafluoroethylene resin powder at a specified ratio.
CONSTITUTION: A resin composition comprising a thermoplastic resin (A), a carbon fiber (B) and a polytetrafluoroethylene resin powder (C), wherein the amount of (B) is 20wt.% or below, preferably, 5W15wt.%, and the amount of (C) is 5wt.% or above, preferably, 5W30wt.%. Examples of said thermoplastic resins which can be particularly preferably used include polyamides, polyesters, polyacetals and polycarbonates. From the viewpoint of mechanical properties it is desirable to use an acrylonitrie- or pitch-derived carbon fiber having a tensile strength ≥100kg/cm2 as said carbon fiber. In order to improve the properties other than the above-mentioned, it is also possible to add additives such as colorants, lubricants, blowing agents, flame retardants and reinforcing materials such as glass fibers and metallic fibers.
