Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite roll for hot rolling and a method for hot rolling using this roll which has less wearout due to high frictional force between the workpiece and is neither flattened nor damaged by yielding for continuous hot rolling of strips and plates.
SOLUTION: This is a composite roll which is built in as a work roll in the last three rolling mills out of the tandem rolling mills for continuous hot rolling of strips and plates featuring that the diameter of this roll is 250-620 mm and the vertical elastic modulus is 200-260 Gpa. The chemical composition of the outer layer in mass ratio is C: 1.0-3.0%, Si: 0.2-2.0%, Mn: 0.2-2.0%, V: 3.0-10.0%, Cr: 3.0-10.0%, type 1 or 2 of Mo and W: 2.0-10.0% and Fe + inevitable impurities. Also, this is a hot rolling method using this roll to perform rolling at a draft to be more than 40% at one rolling mill or more out of the last three finishing rolling mills.
