To provide a composite roll for rolling in which problems in the conventional rolling roll are solved, and which combines excellent wear resistance, surface roughening resistance and seizure resistance, and in which an external layer and an internal layer are soundly deposited.
The composite roll for rolling has a structure where MC carbides are dispersed into a matrix having a Vickers hardness Hv of 550 to 900 in 20 to 60% by area, and comprises: an external layer in which the region which does not comprise the MC carbides of ≥15 μm by the diameter of the equivalent circle does not exceed 150 μm by an inscribed circle diameter; and an internal layer metal-joined to the inside face of the external layer and composed of an Fe-based alloy having chemical components containing, by mass, 0.5 to 3.0% C, 0.1 to 3.0% Si and 0.1 to 3.0% Mn.
