Abstract:

To provide a composite strand having lightweight and less increase in slackness at high temperatures and manufacture thereof, and a lightweight, low slackness overhead wire using the composite strand as a tension member.

In this composite strand, a composite wire-like body A1 is formed by resting a bundled body 3 of a polyphenylene benobisoxazole fiber in a stuck and integrated state in a plurality of longitudinally extended grooves 2 of a metallic wire-like body 1 in which the plurality of grooves 2 are formed on its surface. A metallic conductor layer 4 is formed in a stuck and in an integrated state by covering an external circumference 1a of the composite wire-like body A1.
