PURPOSE: To provide a protection fence of wooden make which is designed fine on the appearance in good harmony with the ambient environment and which can ensure a sufficient strength.

CONSTITUTION: As a covering, a wooden material W is adhered to the surface of a steel material S so that a composite structural material is formed. A plurality of such composite material members are combined, and steel material members S are coupled together by bolts 33, 43, 53, and thus a protection fence is constructed. Because the surface consists of wooden material W, the appearance gives a sense of warmth and gentleness, and the strength as protection fence suffices. Because coupling is established not in the facially located wood members W but in the inner located steel members S through the bolt 33, 43, 53, the coupling strength of the fence is large.
