Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce composite titanium compd. powder excellent in heat and wear resistances by firing a specified blend.
CONSTITUTION: TiO2 or a titanium compd. (A) forming TiO2 by heating is blended with RO (R is an alkaline earth metal) or a compd. (B) of the alkaline earth metal forming RO by heating and M.0 (M is an alkali metal) or a compd. (C) of the alkali metal forming M2 by heating in a ratio satisfying Z≥X+nY (X is the mol number of RO1Y is the mol number of M2O Z is the mol number of TiO2 and 2≤n≤6). The resultant blend is fired at 700-1,300°C to obtain the objective composite titanium compd. powder. This powder consists of grains of titanate of the alkaline earth metal represented by RTiO3 and grains of titanate of the alkali metal represented by M2TinO2n+1 (2≤n≤6) or these grains and grains of titania. The compd. A is, e.g. refined anatase-type titanium dioxide powder, the compd. B is, e.g. magnesium carbonate and the compd. C is, e.g. potassium carbonate.
