PURPOSE: To obtain a selective separation membrane module which is excellent in both selective separability and permeability for gases in particular by doubling a hollow fibrous membrane with a flat membrane.
CONSTITUTION: A large number of hollow fibrous membranes 1 are gathered flatly, and both ends of the hollow fibrous membranes so gathered are molded with a resin 2 into a block form in such a way that ends of the hollow fibrous membranes are opened through the resin blocks 2 in order to obtain an element. The element thus obtained is interleaved between the folds of a continuously folded flat membrane 3 of an envelope form in such a way as to airtightly isolate the folds of the flat membrane 3 from the outside and also to open the side opposite to the isolated side toward the outside. An entrance is provided to one block of the element group and also an outlet is provided to the other block, and a takeout port through which substances coming into the envelope are taken out is provided to the flat membrane of an envelope form. When a gas to be treated is sent into one side of the element, a specific gas permeates the membrane according to the selectivity and permeability of the fibrous membrane 1. Furthermore, a specific gas permeates into the flat membrane 3 of an envelope form because of the selectivity of the flat membrane 3.
