PURPOSE: To improve the recording performance and to suppress the output loss during reproducing by controlling the saturation magnetic flux density of one magnetic shield layer higher than saturation magnetic flux density of other magnetic shield layer formed to interpose a magneto resistance effect element.
CONSTITUTION: A shield film 2 is formed on a substrate 1 and etched into a specified pattern. Then an insulating film 3 is formed, on which a magneto resistance effect film 4 is formed and etched into a specified pattern. Then an insulating film 5 is formed, on which a shield/magnetic pole combination film 6 having the same saturation magnetic flux density as that of the shield film 2 is formed and etched into a specified pattern. Further, on the shield/ magnetic pole combination film 6, a gap film 7, coil 8, and insulating film 9 are successively formed. Then a magnetic pole film 10 having higher saturation magnetic flux density than that of the shield/magnetic pole combination film 6 is formed and etched into a specified pattern.
