To provide a composition having a catalyst function to permit rapid and efficient coating of a titanium dioxide with apatite at and under an ordinary temperature and atmosphere pressure and a method for manufacturing the apatite coated titanium dioxide using the same.
The composition for coating the surface of a base material having the surface composed of the titanium dioxide with the apatite contains at least one kind selected from maltodextrin phosphate, reduced maltodextrin phosphate, oligosaccharide phosophate, reduced oligosaccharide phosophate, and their salts as well as organic acid and its salts, and a calcium salt and phosphoric acid or its salt which serve as raw materials for the apatite. The method for manufacturing the apatite coated titanium dioxide comprises coating the surface of the base material having the surface composed of the titanium dioxide with the apatite by using the composition for apatite coating.
