Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the subject composition having good chipping resistance and useful for coating the drawn members of vehicles, etc., by dispersing acrylic polymer emulsion particles having a specific glass transition temperature, polymer emulsion particles and an inorganic filler in an aqueous medium.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 5-50wt.% of an emulsion polymer comprising (A) 50-95wt.% of acrylic (co)polymer emulsion particles having a glass transition temperature of ≤0°C and prepared by emulsion-polymerizing butyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, acrylonitrile and acrylic acid, and (B) 5-50wt.% of an emulsion polymer having a glass transition temperature of at least 20°C and ester, 6-12C aryl, CN) in an amount of 30-99.9wt.% to obtain the objective composition for aqueous coatings having various properties as antichipping coatings, especially useful for coating the external drawn members of vehicles.
