To obtain a composition for a backing material, which supplies a backing material having good sound absorbing qualities since the composition reduces a coating amount, does not require time for drying, does not cause swelling and has high adhesive strength and excellent air permeability, to provide a method for producing the same, to obtain an automobile carpet and to provide a method for producing the same.
The composition for a backing material for an automobile carpet comprises (a) 100 parts wt. (calculated as a solid content) of a carboxy group modified styrene-butadiene copolymer latex, (b) 0.1-10 parts wt. of a thermosensitive gelling agent and/or (c) 0.1-10 parts wt. of a crosslinking agent and (d) 0-500 parts wt. of a filler. The method for producing the same is provided. The method for producing a carpet comprises coating the back of the fabric of carpet surface with the composition, sticking the fabric to a backing material and then heating the laminated fabric at 100-180°C. The automobile carpet is obtained by the method.
