To obtain a composition for treating and/or cleaning an inorganic deposit of human hair, sebum, a polyvalent metal ion of copper, iron, lead, zinc, aluminum and cadmium and an ion from hard water inorganic substance of calcium, magnesium, etc., and to provide a method for using the composition.

This aqueous composition is suitable for removing a metal, a metal ion, a metal salt, an environmental pollution substance and sebum from the hair, comprises (a) an effective amount of an anionic dispersant and (b) the rest of water and has pH about 2 to about 6. A method for washing the hair is provided. The aqueous composition comprises (c) an effective amount of a reducing agent, (d) an effective amount of a chelating agent, (e) an effective amount of a limit scale inhibitor, (f) an effective amount of a gelling agent and (g) an effective amount of a surfactant selected from the group consisting of an anionic surfactant and an amphoteric surfactant.
