PURPOSE: To obtain a composition for cleansing the skin, excellent in foaming power, capable of simultaneously washing foulings sticking to the skin surface and sulci cutis and providing an excellent touch due to the lubricity on the skin in use, hardly causing irritation to the skin after the use and providing a good touch.

CONSTITUTION: This composition for cleansing the skin contains (A) 1-90wt.% higher fatty acid salt, e.g. potassium laurate or potassium myristate, (B) 0.01-20wt.% water-insoluble solid powder, e.g. an inorganic substance powder having 0.01-10μm average particle diameter or an organic substance powder having 10μm to 1mm average particle diameter, (C) 0.1-30wt.% amino acid-based surfactant having acylated N, e.g. an acylaminocarboxylic acid, an acylaminosulfonic acid or an amidoamine type amphoteric surfactant and further, as necessary, (D) 0.1-10wt.% amine oxide, e.g. a compound of the formula (R1 is a 10-20C alkyl or alkenyl; R2 and R3 are each a 1-3C alkyl). The foaming power and touch after use thereof are more improved by blending the ingredient (D) therein.
