Abstract:
To obtain a composition which contains highly pure 9-cig-β-carotene, and to provide a method capable of producing it in an industrial scale.
This composition is obtained by washing, with ethanol, dry powder of cells of an algae which belongs to the genus Dunaliella, adding hexane, stirring the obtained mixture, filtrating the mixture to give filtrate, which is then condensed to give a condensed paste, to which hexane is then added again, followed by standing the obtained mixture at a low temperature to precipitate a composition which contains 9-cis-β-carotene.
