Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a composition containing an immunoglobulin, sufficiently free from prekallikrein and kallikrein, sufficiently reduced in anticomplementary value, guaranteed in greater safety than that of a conventional product and sufficiently applicable to intravenous administration.
CONSTITUTION: This composition containing an immunoglobulin has at most 0.02, especially at most 0.007 kallikrein value. The objective composition containing the immunoglobulin is prepared by treating a crude γ-globulin fraction with an immobilized carrier obtained by covalently binding a compound selected from aminobenzamidine, aminophenylguanidine and basic amino acids to a water-insoluble carrier (e.g. cellulose, dextran or polyacrylamide) under conditions of pH6-8 and 0.01-0.2M salt concentration and then purifying the resultant γ-globulin according to a well-known means. The composition has ≤20, preferably ≤15CH50 units/ml anticomplementary value thereof.
