Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method for determining the concentration of ketone bodies in a biological sample, and to provide a test device therefor.
CONSTITUTION: This composition is an indicator reagent composition comprising an indicator dye responsive to thiols subject to color change by the interaction with ketone bodies, specifically D-β-hydroxybutyrate, DHBA dehydrogenase, lipoamide dehydrogenase(LADH), D, L-lipoamide, and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD). The other objective test pad comprising a suitable carrier matrix contains the above composition. This method facilitates the determination of ketone bodies in households and laboratories at low cost, thus facilitating monitoring ketosis and ketosuria.
