To provide a composition for a hard coat which is excellent in light transmittance, and furthermore has excellent characteristics in adhesion and abrasion resistance.

The composition for a hard coat contains a polysiloxane which is formed of 1-10 mol% of dialkoxysilane (a) containing at least one of a 1-12C alkyl group and a 6-20C aryl group and 90-99 mol% of trialkoxysilane (b) containing a (meth)acrylic group (where the sum total of dialkoxysilane (a) and trialkoxysilane (b) is taken to be 100 mol%), and which is obtained by at first conducting a hydrolysis reaction and a condensation reaction of trialkoxysilane (b) to obtain ladder type and/or random type silsesquioxane derivatives, and next by adding dialkoxysilane (a) to the reaction system in the presence of the ladder type and/or random type silsesquioxane derivatives and by conducting a hydrolysis reaction and a condensation reaction.
