PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cosmetic composition having such advantage as to be stable and mild when applied, and especially capable of treating signs of aging of the skin or improving brightness in color and luster of the skin, and to provide a method for using the same.
SOLUTION: The composition is a topically applicable composition in the form of an oil-in-water type emulsion containing an oily phase dispersed in an aqueous phase and a hydrophilic polymer, wherein the composition contains (1) at least one kind of elastomeric organopolysiloxane and (2) at least one kind of lipophilic derivative selected from a lipophilic salicylic acid derivative and a lipophilic amino acid derivative.
