Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an ulcerative colitis-inhibiting composition capable of being continuously taken in a large amount due to better texture, taste and color than those of dietary fibers by adding high amylose starch as an active ingredient to various materials, especially food-related materials.
CONSTITUTION: This composition contains high amylose starch(HAS) as an active ingredient. The HAS is preferably a HAS having an amylose content of 70-90wt.% and exhibiting that the content of slightly digestible components measured by a total dietary fiber-determining method is 25-40wt.%. The HAS is preferably added to other food materials to give the food composition containing the HAS in an amount of 20-40wt.% in the digestive food and having a form such as a snack or a wafer, and the food composition is preferably continuously taken in an intake amount of 20-40g per day for an adult.
