Abstract:

An aq. compsn. for treating allergenically induced asthma in humans contains as the only active ingredient 35-50g. of cedar resin obtd. from Cedrela Odorata per litre of composition, and generally also contains colouring and flavouring additives. It is generally administered in 3-15 cc. doses three times daily for at least 15 days. The composition is intended as a prophylactic treatment to bring about a long term remission of the symptoms of extrinsic asthma and is not intended to alleviate instantaneously an asthma attack. It may be administered concurrently with drugs intended to give immediate relief. No significant adverse side effects are noted.
