PURPOSE: To prepare an oral cavity composition excellent in time stability, and useful for preventing and treating hyperesthesis and periodontitis by adding sodium silicate to an oral cavity composition containing aluminum lactate.

CONSTITUTION: An oral cavity composition containing 1-10wt.% of aluminum lactate is compounded with sodium silicate in such an amount as to give a pH of 5-9, generally in an amount of 0.1-15wt.%, and further suitably with sodium hydride and/or tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane, a soluble fluorine compound (e.g. sodium monofluorophosphate), a vitamin E derivative (e.g. tocopherol acetate), a binder (e.g. sodium carboxymethylcellulose), etc. This mixture is prepared into tooth pastes or get-like liniments by conventional methods.
