PURPOSE: To improve selective separability by attaching an org. crystal stable to and lowly soluble in an aq. alkaline soln. closely to an article having a strongly hydrophilic surface in contact with the crystal and ≥1 kind between weakly hydrophilic and hydrophobic articles.
CONSTITUTION: A Pyrex-glass substrate is dipped in an aq. alkaline soln. of isopropyl alcohol to make it surface strongly hydrophilic. A part of the substrate is then dipped in a soln. of an organosilicon compd. such as diphenyl dichlorosilane in an n-heptane-carbon tetrachloride-chloroform mixture to make its surface weakly hydrophilic. The glass substrate having the strongly hydrophilic surface and the weakly hydrophilic glass substrate are laminated, the lower part of the laminate is dipped in an ethyl alcohol soln. of the org. crystal such as anthracene to fill the gap between the substrates with the soln., and the solvent is vaporized from the upper part to grow the thin-film crystal of anthracene. The anthracene-glass substrate composite is then dipped in an aq. soln. of tetramethylammonium hydroxide to make its surface strongly hydrophilic, the glass substrate having the strongly hydrophilic surface is separated and removed, and an anthracene-glass substrate composite is obtained.
