Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a composition for paper coating having excellent coating operation and printability such as printing luster, surface smoothness and surface strength.
CONSTITUTION: This composition for paper coating comprises a copolymer latex which is composed of a copolymer obtained by subjecting monomers composed of (a) 20-70wt.% of an aliphatic diene-based monomer, (b) 0.5-10.wt.% of an ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer and (c) 20-79.5wt.% of another monomer polymerizable with these monomers ((a)+(b+(c)=100wt.%) to emulsion polymerization and has ≥100% degree of swelling in acetone and ≥80wt.% toluene insoluble content and a pigment.
