PURPOSE: To provide a titled compsn. which has low toxicity, stability, and a rust preventive effect for various metals other than irons by containing alkali metal, ammonium or ethanol amine salts of fatty acids of middle chain lengths, or further adding these bases excessively.
CONSTITUTION: The composition of the rust preventive material consists of alkali metal, ammonium or ethanol amine salts of fatty acids of ≥1 kind of unsaturated fatty acids and oxy fatty acids of 4W8 carbon atom number, or these selts containing ≥1 kind among alkali metals, ammonia or ethanol amines. The ratios of the alkali to be added to these fatty acids are kept within an equal or higher mole and about ≤5mol range, more preferably, an equal or higher mole and about ≤3mol range. Said rust preventive material is used as an aq. soln. of usually about 0.001W20.0wt%, more preferably about 0.05W10.0%. More particularly, an aq. soln. of about 0.1W10.0, more preferably 0.5W5.0% is suited for irons in half dry and half wet states.
