To prepare the subject composition useful as a cosmetic for a scalp and hair capable of safely manifesting excellent activities for preventing depilation of the hair and dandruff and itching of the scalp by including an acetylated hyaluronic acid and a circulation accelerator.
This composition contains (A) an acetylated hyaluronic acid [e.g. the one having 2-4 substitution degree with acetyl groups in a repeating unit of the formula (R1 to R4 are each H or an acetyl group bonded with an ester bond, with the proviso that two or more of the R1 to R4 in average are the acetyl; R5 is H or an alkali metal atom), and (B) a circulation accelerator [e.g. nicotinic acid (benzyl ester), tocopherol nicotinate, an extract of Swertia japonica and an extract of Panax ginseng]. Preferably, the composition contains 0.001-10 wt.% component A and 0.001-5 wt.% component B based on the total of the composition.
