Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition which is to be mixed into a lubricating oil and has an improved resistance to mechanical shear.
SOLUTION: A lubricating oil is mixed with 20 wt.%-90 wt.% (based on the lubricating oil) oil solution containing 10 wt.% or higher but not higher than 90 wt.% polyisobutylene having a viscosity average mol.wt. of 350,000-2,100,000 and also mixed with 3 wt.%-90 wt.% (based on the lubricating oil) oil solution containing 3 wt.%-90 wt.% star-type divinylbenzene-isoprene copolymer hydride having a viscosity average mol.wt. of 200,000-800,000 as a viscosity index improver. Thus, the resistance to mechanical shear of the composition to be mixed into a lubricating oil can be improved.
