Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition and a method of treating inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.SOLUTION: Provided herein are immunosuppressive mutational variants of IL-2 that preferentially promote the growth/survival of FOXP3regulatory T cells (T-reg cells) over the growth/survival of potentially proinflammatory FOXP3CD25T cells. By increasing the ratio of T-reg to other T cells and/or by increasing FOXP3 expression in T-reg without activating FOXP3CD25T cells, these variants should suppress undesirable inflammation.
