Abstract:
To provide a composition which contains a compound having the absorption maximum in a wavelength range of 370-470 nm, inclusive, and a liquid crystal compound, and can be used to form a polarizing film with a high dichroic ratio.SOLUTION: A composition provided herein is represented by a formula (1) below and contains a compound having an absorption maximum wavelength in a range of 370-470 nm, inclusive, and a liquid crystal compound. In the formula (1), x represents 1 or 2. R1 and R2 represent an alkyl group, alkoxy group, alkoxycarbonyl group, or alkanoyloxy group, which may be substituted with a polymerizable group. Ar1, Ar2 and Ar3 represent a thiazole diyl group, benzothiazole diyl group, thieno [2,3-d] thiazole-2,5-diyl group, or 1,4-phenylene, which may be substituted, and at least one of Ar1, Ar2 and Ar3 contains a thiazole skeleton. When x is 2, two Ar3 may be the same or different.SELECTED DRAWING: None
