NEW MATERIAL: Compound of formula (X is C1-20 alkanediyl, C2-20 alkanediyl interrupted by O, S and/or NH; R is H, C1-6 alkyl, cycloalkyl; Y is non- centrosymmetric radical containing an easily polarized conjugated π-electron system and at least one terminal electron-acceptor group.
EXAMPLE: N-Allyl-N-methyl-2-methyl-4-nitroaniline.
USE: Nonlinear optical materials. Effectively used for preparing polymers having nonlinear optical properties, by radical addition polymerization.
PROCESS: For example, 2-methyl-4-nitroaniline is formylated by 95% formic acid, the obtained N-formyl-2-methyl-4-nitroaniline is alkylated by allylchloride under a phase transition condition, to obtain N-allyl-N-formyl-2-methyl-4- nitroaniline, and the same is reduced to obtain the exemplified compound.
