Title:
COMPOUND, METHOD AND PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITION FOR SENSITIZING RADIATION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03141219
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To render hypoxic cells more sensitive to the irradiation of X-rays or other radiations by subjecting the cells to a treatment with a Cu(II) coordination compound. CONSTITUTION: Hypoxic cells are treated with a Cu(II) coordination compound, e.g. [malonato(2-)(1,10-phenanthroline)Cu(II)] dihydrate selected from a compound of formula I [A is a heterogeneous aromatic bidentate ligand containing nitrogen donor atoms; B is a negative charge monodentate ligand containing oxygen donor atoms; (z) is the whole charge of the complex] and a compound of formula II (X, Y are each a neutral or negative monodentate ligand; (z') is the charge of the complex) to render the hypoxic cells more sensitive. The treatment using the compound is preferably carried out before irradiation, but may be carried out when or after the irradiation.
