To provide a novel compound which gives an optical film capable of uniformly exchanging polarization in a wide range of wavelength.
The compound has a structure unit originating from a compound comprising a cyclohexylene group and a group represented by -NH-CO-, which may be substituted, and a structural unit originated from a compound represented by the formula (II): wherein, X1 and X2, being independent from each other, each represents an alkylene group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms, wherein the hydrocarbon atoms contained in the alkylene group may be substituted by an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms or a hydroxyl group, and the methylene group contained in the alkylene group may be substituted by a carbonyl group; R, being independent from one another, represents a hydroxyl group, a halogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, a glycidoxy group, a nitro group, or a cyano group; s and t, being independent from each other, each represents an integer of 0 to 6; and n, being independent from one another, each represents an integer of 0 to 4.
