Title:
COMPOUND SUPERCONDUCTING WIRE AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04277409
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To efficiently provide high critical current density by forming a filament material with a second metal which does not generate any intermetallic compound with a first metal from a practical standpoing, and scattering a ring body in which the first metal is filled in a noncontact disposition.

CONSTITUTION: A cylindrically formed body 12 made of a Nb-Ti alloy is disposed outside a Nb rod 11, and a Nb foil 13 is wound around it. Then it is inserted into a Cu tube 14, subsequently lids made of Cu are attached to opening parts at the both ends of the tube 14, followed by welding so as to be sealed. HIP treatment is applied onto the tube 14, so that a composite billet 15 is produced. The billet 15 is extruded and thereafter reduced in its diameter. Next it is cut in a preset dimension, subsequently the Cu part is molten and removed so as to obtain a primary composite strand 16. The strands 16 are bound and inserted into a Nb tube 17, followed by welding the lids on the opening parts. HIP treatment is applied to produce a composite billet 18. This is inserted into a Cu tube 19, subsequently lids are welded on its both ends, being HIP treated, thereafter being extruced, being drawn, being cut, followed by melting and removing the Cu part so as to obtain a filament 20. Likewise, a superconducting wire containing a filament 22 is obtained.
