Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound, having squalene synthase inhibiting activity and useful as an antihyperlipemic agent.

CONSTITUTION: The compound is expressed by the formula [X1 and X2 are ethylene or vinylene; R1 and R2 are H or acyl; R3 to R5 are OH or (substituted) amino] and has the following physicochemical properties: appearance: colorless powder. specific rotatory power: [α]D=+14° (c=0.12, methanol at 25°C). molecular weight: m/Z=817 (M+Na)+, 839 (M-H+2Na)+, 861 (M-2H+3Na)+ and 883 (M-3H+4Na)+. elementary analysis (%): C, 64.98; H, 7.21. molecular formula: C43H54O14. This compound expressed by the formula is obtained by culturing a microorganism belonging to the genus Cladosporium such as Cladosporium.cladosporioides FL-21431 (FERM BP-3844) and subjecting the obtained product to acylating, amidating and/or catalytic hydrogenating reaction.
