Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a compd. which is useful for synthesizing a semiconducting polymer having a perpendiculary arranged core.

CONSTITUTION: A compd. of formula I (wherein X is a reactive group used when small conductive or proconductive polymer units are bonded to the compd. of formula I and is Br, I, -O-SO2-CF3, or at least one small polymer unit having a terminal substd. by Br, I, or -O-SO2-CF3) is provided, which is obtd. by reacting a compd. of formula II with bromine in the presence of FeCl3 as the catalyst. The compd. of formula I is reacted with 1-bromo-4-(trimethylsilyl)-Y (wherein Y is a small phenyl-contg. polymer unit) in the presence of a catalyst [e.g. palladium-tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)] to give a perpendicular-type polymer.
